About the Facility

Mission Statement

    
The primary aim of the facility is to provide a DNA Analysis Facility to University of Dundee and NHS Trust Departments within Ninewells Hospital and Medical School. The Service is also available to Research and Diagnostic Groups outside the Medical School capacity permitting.

Organisation

The Facility is managed by Dr. Andrew Cassidy and employs one member of staff Mr. Graeme Scott as a technician. The Facility provides DNA Sequencing, Fragment Analysis and Real-Time PCR services. The Facility also houses the Cancer Variant Detection Service run by Mrs Gillian McGregor.

Facility Staff

Mrs Gillian McGregor has been with the Facility since November 2004 and is responsible for running the Cancer Variant Detection Service. Gillian also supplies excellent scones for coffee time although she does not bake them herself.

 

 

Mr Graeme Scott joined the Facility in March 2000 and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the DNA Analysis Facility. Graeme is also responsible for providing bacon rolls for morning coffee break and is single handedly responsible for the poor cholesterol levels within the Facility.
