The Genetics Core Services Unit
The primary aim of the Unit is to provide genetic analysis services to the University of Dundee and NHS Trust Departments within Ninewells Hospital and Medical School. The Service is also available to external research and clinical groups, capacity permitting. Funds accumulated through the successful operation of the Service are used to support the development of the Genetics Core Services Unit within the Medical School. The Unit endeavours to maintain an inexpensive service while providing state-of-the-art equipment to support the activities of the University and Medical School.
The Service has been in operation for approximately 15 years and now resides within the Division of Medical Sciences. Initially set up to provide a DNA Sequencing Service for a single research group, the Service is now part of the Human Genetics Unit and provides genetics analysis services for approximately 50 research groups within the University and Medical School. The Service is already viewed as a great success within the academic and clinical community and continues to expand the variety of techniques it offers to it's clients.
